Which Country Produces the Most Cheese?

Based on a comparison of 107 countries in 2014, USA ranked the highest in cheese production with 5,585 kt followed by Germany and France. On the other end of the scale was Georgia with 0.040 kt, Bhutan with 0.061 kt and Malta with 0.169 kt.

Total cheese production reached 20,489 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.711 % less than in the previous year and 11.8 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total cheese production reached an all time high of 20,723 kt in 2011 and an all time low of 5,411 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 2.54 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, USA, accounted for 27.3 % of cheese production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 49.8 % share while the ten largest countries some 75.2 % in 2014.
