Based on a comparison of 15 banks in Vietnam, Vietcombank produced the highest net profit in 2018, followed by Techcombank and Vietnam Prosperity Bank.
Vietcombank made a net profit of VND 14,606 bil, up 60.7% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of VND 14,606 bil in 2018 and an all time low of VND 224 bil in 2002. The average profit in the last five years amounted to VND 8,091 bil.
The bank generated an average return on equity of 16.2% for its shareholders in the last five years with a maximum of 25.5% and a minimum of 10.6%.
Comparing Vietcombank with its closest peers, Techcombank generated a net profit of VND 8,463 bil with a ROE of 21.5% in 2018, Vietnam Prosperity Bank netted VND 7,294 bil (ROE of 22.6%) and MBBank announced a net profit of VND 6,113 bil giving a ROE of 19.2%.
