Historically, production of dates in Libya reached an all time high of 200,000 tonnes in 2002 and an all time low of 29,100 tonnes in 1961. When compared to Libya's main peers, production of dates in Algeria amounted to 1,188,803 tonnes, 21,135 tonnes in Chad, 1,747,715 tonnes in Egypt and 345,000 tonnes in Tunisia in 2021.
