By contrast, total debt reached EUR 161,780 mil at the year-end, or 53.5% of total assets, while the firm's equity amounted to EUR 62,841 mil. As a result, net debt stood at EUR -12,929 mil at the end of 2019 and accounted for -20.6% of equity.
Net debt against equity is up 23.8 pp from five years ago (-44.4%). The ratio against EBITDA increased from -1.53x seen in 2014 to -1.47x.
