Citigroup's non-performing loans reached 2.00% of total loans at the end of 2018, up from 0.716% compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 4.58% in 2009 and an all time low of 0.582% in 2013.
Provision coverage amounted to 90.0% at the end of 2018, down from 259% compared to a year earlier.
The bank created loan loss provisions worth of 1.14% of average loans in 2018. That's compared to 1.18% of loans the bank put aside to its cost on average in the last five years.
