BNP Paribas's non-performing loans reached 4.24% of total loans at the end of 2018, down from 4.86% compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 7.89% in 1988 and an all time low of 3.10% in 2007.
Provision coverage amounted to 70.9% at the end of 2018, down from 73.3% compared to a year earlier.
The bank created loan loss provisions worth of 0.364% of average loans in 2018. That's compared to 0.459% of loans the bank put aside to its cost on average in the last five years.
