Based on a comparison of 12 countries in 2014, Romania ranked the highest in Treatment Capacity of Wastewater Plants - Urban wastewater treatment plants - primary treatment - Design capacity BOD5 with 60.9 tonnes of O2/day followed by Bulgaria and Serbia. On the other end of the scale was Hungary with 0.700 tonnes of O2/day, Slovenia with 0.900 tonnes of O2/day and Luxembourg with 1.20 tonnes of O2/day.
