Based on a comparison of 32 countries in 2011, Denmark ranked the highest in total public expenditure on education as a share of GDP with 8.75% followed by Malta and Cyprus. On the other end of the scale was Liechtenstein with 2.53%, Romania with 3.07% and Japan with 3.78%.
