Based on a comparison of 20 countries in 2016, Italy ranked the highest in total domestic uses of PGI wine with 8,881 1,000 hl followed by France and Germany. On the other end of the scale was Croatia with 8.32 1,000 hl, Malta with 24.8 1,000 hl and Estonia with 26.0 1,000 hl.
