Based on a comparison of 25 countries in 2014, Macedonia ranked the highest in railway, average distance travelled per passenger with 99.6 km followed by Lithuania and Bulgaria. On the other end of the scale was Luxembourg with 18.7 km, Portugal with 30.0 km and Switzerland with 32.7 km.
