Based on a comparison of 15 countries in 2016, France ranked the highest in official production of PDO red and rose wine with 14,607 1,000 hl followed by Italy and Spain. On the other end of the scale was Belgium with 1.10 1,000 hl, Cyprus with 2.20 1,000 hl and United Kingdom with 3.00 1,000 hl.
