Based on a comparison of 17 countries in 2016, Italy ranked the highest in gross human consumption of PGI white wine with 4,435 1,000 hl followed by United Kingdom and France. On the other end of the scale was Croatia with 5.35 1,000 hl, Luxembourg with 8.00 1,000 hl and Malta with 8.10 1,000 hl.
