Based on a comparison of 18 countries in 2016, France ranked the highest in gross human consumption of PDO red and rose wine with 11,333 1,000 hl followed by Germany and Spain. On the other end of the scale was Malta with 16.1 1,000 hl, Lithuania with 20.0 1,000 hl and Estonia with 23.0 1,000 hl.
