Based on a comparison of 18 countries in 2012, Egypt ranked the highest in direct tourism as a percentage of total GDP with 6.10% followed by Austria and Indonesia. On the other end of the scale was Macedonia with 1.18%, Romania with 1.50% and South Korea with 2.00%.
