Based on a comparison of 38 countries in 2023, USA ranked the highest in consumer loans with USD 15,352 bil followed by Bangladesh and South Korea. On the other end of the scale was United Kingdom with USD -1,402 bil, Spain with USD -199 bil and Switzerland with USD -17.0 bil.
