Based on a comparison of 18 countries in 1984, Norway ranked the highest in catches in north-east atlantic with 2,437,973 Tonnes live weight followed by Denmark and Iceland. On the other end of the scale was South Korea with 644 Tonnes live weight, Japan with 1,445 Tonnes live weight and Taiwan with 1,686 Tonnes live weight.
