Based on a comparison of 158 countries in 2013, Morocco ranked the highest in cereal consumption per capita with 254 kg followed by Egypt and Lesotho. On the other end of the scale was Rwanda with 46.8 kg, Central African Republic with 62.0 kg and Congo with 64.9 kg.

Average cereal consumption per capita reached 147 kg in 2013 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.136 % more than in the previous year and 0.272 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, average cereal consumption per capita reached an all time high of 153 kg in 1989 and an all time low of 128 kg in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 0.268 % since 1961.
