Based on a comparison of 31 firms among Global Car Producers, Volkswagen Group generated the highest earnings before interest cost, taxes and depreciation (so called EBITDA) in 2019 followed by Toyota Motor Corporation and General Motors.

Volkswagen Group made EBITDA of CZK 17,517 mil, up 15.7% compared to the previous year. Historically, the firm’s EBITDA reached an all time high of CZK 17,517 mil in 2017 and an all time low of CZK 570 mil in 1994. The average profit in the last five years amounted to CZK 14,786 mil.

The Company generated an average EBITDA margin of 17.2% in the last five years with a maximum of 19.2% and a minimum of 15.9%.

Comparing Skoda Auto with its closest peers, Porsche generated EBITDA of CZK 14,930 mil with a EBITDA margin of 14.5% in 2017, Nissan grossed CZK 14,610 mil (EBITDA margin of 12.0%) and Renault announced a profit of CZK 7,626 mil translating into a margin of 11.0%.
