Based on a comparison of 169 countries in 2021, Cayman Islands ranked the highest in foreign direct investments as a share of GDP with 4.39% followed by Hong Kong and Mozambique. On the other end of the scale was Netherlands with -0.159%, Luxembourg with -0.106% and Angola with -0.065%.

Average foreign direct investments as a share of GDP reached 0.023% in 2021 in the World according to the National Statistical Office. This is 42.2 % more than in the previous year and -39.7 % less than 10 years ago.
