Based on a comparison of 71 countries in 2014, Italy ranked the highest in wine production with 4,797 kt followed by Spain and France. On the other end of the scale was Syria with 0.070 kt, Liechtenstein with 0.101 kt and Tajikistan with 0.150 kt.

Total wine production reached 27,239 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.67 % less than in the previous year and -12.9 % less than 10 years ago.

Historically, total wine production reached an all time high of 37,545 kt in 1979 and an all time low of 21,492 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 0.448 % since 1961.
