Based on a comparison of 18 countries in 2021, India ranked the highest in jute production with 1,720,000 tonnes followed by Bangladesh and Uzbekistan. On the other end of the scale was Pakistan with 14.0 tonnes, Myanmar with 22.1 tonnes and Brazil with 26.0 tonnes.

Total jute production reached 3,457,634 tonnes in 2021 in the World according to Faostat. This is 1.59 % less than in the previous year and -3.62 % less than 10 years ago.

Historically, total jute production reached an all time high of 4,486,769 tonnes in 1985 and an all time low of 1,847,773 tonnes in 1968. The average annual growth amounted to 0.444 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, India, accounted for 49.7 % of jute production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 98.9 % share while the ten largest countries some 100.0 % in 2021.
