Based on a comparison of 115 countries in 2022, China ranked the highest in natural honey production with 461,900 tonnes followed by Turkey and Iran. On the other end of the scale was Bhutan with 37.3 tonnes, Suriname with 39.0 tonnes and Luxembourg with 48.2 tonnes.

Total natural honey production reached 1,830,768 tonnes in 2022 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.45 % more than in the previous year and 10.4 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total natural honey production reached an all time high of 1,878,347 tonnes in 2017 and an all time low of 678,751 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 1.64 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, China, accounted for 25.2 % of natural honey production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 36.0 % share while the ten largest countries some 61.0 % in 2022.
