Based on a comparison of 21 countries in 2021, France ranked the highest in hemp tow waste production with 143,110 tonnes followed by China and Dem. People's Republic of Korea. On the other end of the scale was Japan with 0.540 tonnes, Turkey with 1.49 tonnes and South Korea with 16.1 tonnes.
Total hemp tow waste production reached 287,318 tonnes in 2021 in the World according to Faostat. This is 12.6 % more than in the previous year and 66.4 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total hemp tow waste production reached an all time high of 368,373 tonnes in 1966 and an all time low of 83,997 tonnes in 1990. The average annual growth amounted to -0.072 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, France, accounted for 49.8 % of hemp tow waste production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 80.4 % share while the ten largest countries some 98.7 % in 2021.
