Based on a comparison of 51 countries in 2022, Turkey ranked the highest in fig production with 350,000 tonnes followed by Egypt and Algeria. On the other end of the scale was Qatar with 5.83 tonnes, Ecuador with 37.0 tonnes and Australia with 72.3 tonnes.

Total fig production reached 1,242,449 tonnes in 2022 in the World according to Faostat. This is 6.32 % less than in the previous year and 14.9 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total fig production reached an all time high of 1,597,659 tonnes in 1964 and an all time low of 860,717 tonnes in 1978. The average annual growth amounted to -0.385 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, Turkey, accounted for 28.2 % of fig production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 52.3 % share while the ten largest countries some 80.3 % in 2022.
