Which Country Produces the Most Cotton Seeds?

Based on a comparison of 88 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in seed cotton production with 12,320 kt followed by India and USA. On the other end of the scale was Romania with 0.002 kt, Macedonia with 0.003 kt and Uruguay with 0.004 kt.

Total seed cotton production reached 77,711 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 6.01 % more than in the previous year and 8.99 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total seed cotton production reached an all time high of 77,995 kt in 2012 and an all time low of 27,479 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 1.98 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, China, accounted for 15.9 % of seed cotton production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 37.7 % share while the ten largest countries some 53.9 % in 2014.
