Which Country Produces the Most Cereals?

Based on a comparison of 167 countries in 2015, China ranked the highest in cereal production with 550,018 kt followed by USA and India. On the other end of the scale was Djibouti with 0.016 kt, Maldives with 0.188 kt and Puerto Rico with 0.618 kt.

Total cereal production reached 2,572,596 kt in 2015 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.12 % more than in the previous year and 11.8 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total cereal production reached an all time high of 2,587,989 kt in 2011 and an all time low of 743,343 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 2.33 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, China, accounted for 21.4 % of cereal production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 49.0 % share while the ten largest countries some 69.1 % in 2015.
