Which Country Has the Most Mobile Phones?

Based on a comparison of 178 countries in 2021, China ranked the highest in mobile cellular subscriptions with 1,733 mil followed by India and Indonesia. On the other end of the scale was Monaco with 0.036 mil, Liechtenstein with 0.049 mil and Cayman Islands with 0.100 mil.

Total mobile cellular subscriptions reached 8,063 mil in 2021 in the World according to World Bank. This is 2.48 % less than in the previous year and 27.0 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total mobile cellular subscriptions reached an all time high of 8,263 mil in 2020 and an all time low of 0.023 mil in 1980. The average annual growth amounted to 36.5 % since 1980.

The top ranked country, China, accounted for 21.5 % of mobile cellular subscriptions in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 40.3 % share while the ten largest countries some 60.1 % in 2021.
