Based on a comparison of 137 countries in 2015, China ranked the highest in number of passenger cars with 136 mil followed by USA and Japan. On the other end of the scale was Mauritania with 0.020 mil, Burundi with 0.020 mil and Liberia with 0.020 mil.

Total number of passenger cars reached 947 mil in 2015 in the World according to the National Statistical Office. This is 4.23 % more than in the previous year and 31.0 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total number of passenger cars reached an all time high of 947 mil in 2015 and an all time low of 654 mil in 2005. The average annual growth amounted to 3.77 % since 1922.

The top ranked country, China, accounted for 14.3 % of number of passenger cars in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 33.7 % share while the ten largest countries some 60.6 % in 2015.
