Total tea consumption reached 5,346 kt in 2013 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.27 % more than in the previous year and 25.1 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total tea consumption reached an all time high of 5,452 kt in 2011 and an all time low of 1,225 kt in 1962. The average annual growth amounted to 2.86 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 22.2 % of tea consumption in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 44.5 % share while the ten largest countries some 67.8 % in 2013.
