Based on a comparison of 72 countries in 2017, Iceland ranked the highest in real growth of residential property prices in local currency with 17.8% followed by Ireland and Hong Kong. On the other end of the scale was Ukraine with -20.5%, Egypt with -15.6% and Puerto Rico with -12.5%.

Average real growth of residential property prices in local currency reached 1.47% in 2017 in the World according to the National Statistical Office. This is 106 % less than in the previous year and 54.9 % more than the average we have seen in the last 10 years.

Historically, average real growth of residential property prices in local currency reached an all time high of 9.93% in 2006 and an all time low of -4.21% in 2008. The average annual growth amounted to 10.9 % since 1960.
