Where Do You Find the Largest Proved Reserves of Natural Gas?

Based on a comparison of 98 countries in 2017, Russia ranked the highest in proved reserves of natural gas with 1,688 trillion cb ft followed by Iran and Qatar. On the other end of the scale was Albania with 0.029 trillion cb ft, Dem. Republic of the Congo with 0.035 trillion cb ft and Greece with 0.035 trillion cb ft.

Total proved reserves of natural gas reached 6,604 trillion cb ft in 2017 in the World according to EIA. This is 4.17 % less than in the previous year and 6.25 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total proved reserves of natural gas reached an all time high of 6,973 trillion cb ft in 2014 and an all time low of 2,592 trillion cb ft in 1980. The average annual growth amounted to 2.56 % since 1980.

The top ranked country, Russia, accounted for 25.6 % of proved reserves of natural gas in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 56.5 % share while the ten largest countries some 81.7 % in 2017.
