Based on a comparison of 22 banks in Turkey in 2016, Isbank was the largest bank by assets, followed by Ziraat Bank and Garanti Bank.
Isbank assets reached TRY 371,318 mil, up 14.1% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s assets reached an all time high of TRY 371,318 mil in 2016 and an all time low of TRY 0.002 mil in 1958.
Comparing Isbank with its closest peers, Ziraat Bank assets amounted to TRY 357,761 mil, Garanti Bank operated with TRY 312,122 mil assets and Akbank had total assets of TRY 294,501 mil.
Total assets of the Turkish banking sector amounted to TRY 2,731 bil in 2016, up 15.8% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - Isbank accounted for 13.6% of the sector’s assets in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 38.1% share while the five largest firms some 58.8% in 2016.
