Based on a comparison of 10 banks in Slovenia, Nova Ljubljanska banka produced the highest net profit in 2017, followed by NKBM Group and SKB Banka.
Nova Ljubljanska banka made a net profit of EUR 225 mil, up 105% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of EUR 225 mil in 2017 and an all time low of EUR -1,442 mil in 2013. The average profit in the last five years amounted to EUR -190 mil.
The bank generated an average return on equity of -17.2% for its shareholders in the last five years with a maximum of 14.3% and a minimum of -119%.
Comparing Nova Ljubljanska banka with its closest peers, NKBM Group generated a net profit of EUR 47.8 mil with a ROE of 6.93% in 2017, SKB Banka netted EUR 43.4 mil (ROE of 11.4%) and Abanka Group announced a net profit of EUR 41.6 mil giving a ROE of 6.95%.
The net profit of the Slovenia’s banking sector amounted to EUR 425 mil in 2017, up 28.0% compared to the previous year. Heading up the rankings, Nova Ljubljanska banka accounted for 53.0% of the sector’s net profit in 2017. The top 3 companies held a 74.4% share while the five largest firms some 92.7% in 2017.
