Based on a comparison of 12 banks in Slovakia in 2016, Slovenska Sporitelna was the best capitalised bank, followed by Tatra banka and Wustenrot Stavebna Sporitelna.
Slovenska Sporitelna's capital adequacy ratio reached 21.5%, down from 21.9% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 25.2% in 2013 and an all time low of 9.10% in 2006.
Comparing Slovenska Sporitelna with its closest peers, Tatra banka ended the year 2016 with a capital adequacy ratio at 19.7%, Wustenrot Stavebna Sporitelna with 17.8% and Sberbank Slovakia some 17.7% at the end of 2016.
The average capital adequacy reached 18.4% in the Slovak banking sector in 2016.
