Based on a comparison of 18 banks in Serbia, Bank Intesa Serbia produced the highest net profit in 2016, followed by UniCredit Bank Serbia and Raiffeisenbank Serbia.
Bank Intesa Serbia made a net profit of RSD 9,924 mil, up 15.6% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of RSD 9,924 mil in 2016 and an all time low of RSD 100 mil in 2002. The average profit in the last five years amounted to RSD 8,684 mil.
The bank generated an average return on equity of 8.61% for its shareholders in the last five years with a maximum of 11.1% and a minimum of 6.67%.
Comparing Bank Intesa Serbia with its closest peers, UniCredit Bank Serbia generated a net profit of RSD 6,273 mil with a ROE of 9.94% in 2016, Raiffeisenbank Serbia netted RSD 5,411 mil (ROE of 9.73%) and AIK Banka announced a net profit of RSD 4,338 mil giving a ROE of 8.24%.
The net profit of the Serbia’s banking sector amounted to RSD 18,352 mil in 2016, up 146% compared to the previous year. Heading up the rankings, Bank Intesa Serbia accounted for 54.1% of the sector’s net profit in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 118% share while the five largest firms some 162% in 2016.
