Based on a comparison of 11 banks in Serbia in 2017, Societe Generale Serbia was the largest mortgage lender, followed by Bank Intesa Serbia and Komercijalna Banka Beograd.
Societe Generale Serbia's mortgage loans reached RSD 62,305 mil, up from RSD 46,251 mil compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s mortgage loans reached an all time high of RSD 62,305 mil in 2017 and an all time low of RSD 17,335 mil in 2010.
At the end of 2017, mortgage loans represented 28.7% of Societe Generale Serbia's loan book.
Comparing Societe Generale Serbia with its closest peers, Bank Intesa Serbia's mortgage loans amounted to RSD 60,028 mil at the end of 2017, Komercijalna Banka Beograd operated with RSD 41,445 mil mortgage loans and Erste Bank Serbia had a mortgage loan book of RSD 25,360 mil at the end of 2017.
Serbian banking sector provided mortgage loans of RSD 356 mil in 2017, down 1.10% when compared to the previous year. As a result, the top ranked company - Societe Generale Serbia accounted for 17.5% of the sector’s mortgage loans in 2017. The top 3 companies hold a 46.0% share while the five largest firms some 58.5% in 2017.
