Based on a comparison of 11 banks in Serbia in 2016, Bank Intesa Serbia was the largest mortgage lender, followed by Societe Generale Serbia and Komercijalna Banka Beograd.
Bank Intesa Serbia's mortgage loans reached RSD 54,950 mil, up from RSD 50,318 mil compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s mortgage loans reached an all time high of RSD 54,950 mil in 2016 and an all time low of RSD 45,383 mil in 2013.
At the end of 2016, mortgage loans represented 20.2% of Bank Intesa Serbia's loan book.
Comparing Bank Intesa Serbia with its closest peers, Societe Generale Serbia's mortgage loans amounted to RSD 46,251 mil at the end of 2016, Komercijalna Banka Beograd operated with RSD 41,609 mil mortgage loans and Eurobank Serbia had a mortgage loan book of RSD 21,914 mil at the end of 2016.
Serbian banking sector provided mortgage loans of RSD 360 mil in 2016, up 3.85% when compared to the previous year. As a result, the top ranked company - Bank Intesa Serbia accounted for 15.3% of the sector’s mortgage loans in 2016. The top 3 companies hold a 39.7% share while the five largest firms some 50.3% in 2016.
