Based on a comparison of 18 banks in Serbia in 2016, Bank Intesa Serbia was the largest lender, followed by UniCredit Bank Serbia and Societe Generale Serbia.
Bank Intesa Serbia loans reached RSD 271,750 mil, up 5.39% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s loans reached an all time high of RSD 280,005 mil in 2011 and an all time low of RSD 13,469 mil in 2002.
Comparing Bank Intesa Serbia with its closest peers, UniCredit Bank Serbia customer loans amounted to RSD 208,339 mil, Societe Generale Serbia operated with RSD 168,367 mil loans and Komercijalna Banka Beograd had a loan portfolio of RSD 150,411 mil.
Serbian banking sector provided total customer loans of CZK 2,671 bil in 2016, up 5.99% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - Bank Intesa Serbia accounted for 10.2% of the sector’s loans in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 24.3% share while the five largest firms some 34.6% in 2016.
