What Banks in Poland Were the Most Cost Efficient in 2017?

Based on a comparison of 18 banks in Poland in 2017, Santander Bank Polska was the most cost efficient bank, followed by mBank and Bank Millennium.

Santander Bank Polska's cost to income ratio reached 40.8% in 2017, down from 45.3% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s costs reached an all time high of 72.7% in 2003 and an all time low of 40.8% in 2017.

When compared to total assets, bank's cost amounted to 1.39% in 2017, down from 2.52% a year earlier.

Comparing Santander Bank Polska with its closest peers, mBank operated in 2017 with a cost to income ratio of 41.3%, Bank Millennium reached 45.9% and Alior Bank some 46.6%.

The average cost to income ratio reached 45.2% in the Polish banking sector in 2017.
