Based on a comparison of 11 banks in Poland in 3Q2017, PKO BP was the largest bank by assets, followed by Pekao and Santander Bank Polska.
PKO BP assets reached PLN 289,961 mil, up 1.25% when compared to the previous quarter and up 5.21% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s assets reached an all time high of PLN 289,961 mil in 3Q2017 and an all time low of PLN 82,487 mil in 1Q2004.
When compared to the nearest peers, Pekao assets amounted to PLN 171,463 mil, Santander Bank Polska operated with PLN 150,424 mil assets and mBank had total assets of PLN 132,478 mil.
Total assets of the Polish banking sector amounted to CZK 7,278 bil in 3Q2017, up 22.5% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - PKO BP accounted for 3.98% of the sector’s assets in 3Q2017. The top 3 companies held a 8.41% share while the five largest firms some 11.9% in 3Q2017.
