Based on a comparison of 11 banks in Poland in 1Q2016, PKO BP was the largest bank by assets, followed by Pekao and Santander Bank Polska.
PKO BP assets reached PLN 267,091 mil, up 0.057% when compared to the previous quarter and up 4.09% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s assets reached an all time high of PLN 267,091 mil in 1Q2016 and an all time low of PLN 82,487 mil in 1Q2004.
When compared to the nearest peers, Pekao assets amounted to PLN 159,695 mil, Santander Bank Polska operated with PLN 137,786 mil assets and mBank had total assets of PLN 123,268 mil.
Total assets of the Polish banking sector amounted to CZK 5,876 bil in 1Q2016, up 8.02% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - PKO BP accounted for 4.55% of the sector’s assets in 1Q2016. The top 3 companies held a 9.61% share while the five largest firms some 13.6% in 1Q2016.
