Based on a comparison of 11 banks in Poland in 2Q2016, Alior Bank was the best capitalised bank, followed by mBank and Pekao.
Alior Bank's capital adequacy ratio reached 20.9%, up from 13.5% when compared to the previous quarter and up from 12.8% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 20.9% in 2Q2016 and an all time low of 10.8% in 3Q2012.
When compared to the nearest peers, mBank ended the year 2Q2016 with a capital adequacy ratio at 18.3%, Pekao with 18.1% and Bank Millennium some 17.3% at the end of 2Q2016.
The average capital adequacy reached 17.8% in the Polish banking sector in 2Q2016.
