Based on a comparison of 18 banks in Poland in 2016, mBank was the best capitalised bank, followed by Pekao and Bank Handlowy.

mBank's capital adequacy ratio reached 20.3%, up from 17.3% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 20.3% in 2016 and an all time low of 8.23% in 2003.

Comparing mBank with its closest peers, Pekao ended the year 2016 with a capital adequacy ratio at 17.6%, Bank Handlowy with 17.4% and Bank Millennium some 17.4% at the end of 2016.
