Based on a comparison of 12 banks in Italy in 2018, Intesa Sanpaolo had the most branches, followed by UniCredit SpA and Banco BPM.
Intesa Sanpaolo operated a network of 5,302 branches at the end of 2018. That's compared to 8,399 branches some 10 years ago.
Comparing Intesa Sanpaolo with its closest peers, UniCredit SpA operated a network of 3,815 branches in 2018, Banco BPM had 1,804 branches and UBI Banca had a network of 1,648 branches in 2018.
