Based on a comparison of 26 banks in India in 2018, State Bank of India was the largest deposit taker, followed by HDFC Bank and Punjab National Bank.
State Bank of India's customer deposits reached INR 29,256 bil, up from INR 27,019 bil, compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of INR 29,256 bil in 2018 and an all time low of INR 3,361 bil in 2001.
Comparing State Bank of India with its closest peers, HDFC Bank's deposits amounted to INR 9,131 bil at the end of 2018, Punjab National Bank operated with INR 6,819 bil of customer deposits and Bank of Baroda had clients' deposits of INR 6,656 bil at the end of 2018.
