Based on a comparison of 10 banks in Hungary in 2016, UniCredit Bank Hungary was the most cost efficient bank, followed by Erste Bank Hungary and K&H Bank.
UniCredit Bank Hungary's cost to income ratio reached 45.1% in 2016, down from 52.6% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s costs reached an all time high of 76.8% in 2014 and an all time low of 43.5% in 2009.
When compared to total assets, bank's cost amounted to 1.39% in 2016, down from 2.55% a year earlier.
Comparing UniCredit Bank Hungary with its closest peers, Erste Bank Hungary operated in 2016 with a cost to income ratio of 55.9%, K&H Bank reached 56.7% and OTP Group some 59.5%.
The average cost to income ratio reached 43.7% in the Hungarian banking sector in 2016.
