Based on a comparison of 7 banks in Hungary in 2017, OTP Group was the largest mortgage lender, followed by OTP Bank Hungary and K&H Bank.
OTP Group's mortgage loans reached HUF 2,456,350 mil, up from HUF 2,357,610 mil compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s mortgage loans reached an all time high of HUF 2,673,930 mil in 2012 and an all time low of HUF 2,043,340 mil in 2009.
At the end of 2017, mortgage loans represented 35.2% of OTP Group's loan book.
Comparing OTP Group with its closest peers, OTP Bank Hungary's mortgage loans amounted to HUF 1,275,650 mil at the end of 2017, K&H Bank operated with HUF 482,823 mil mortgage loans and Erste Bank Hungary had a mortgage loan book of HUF 394,192 mil at the end of 2017.
Hungarian banking sector provided mortgage loans of HUF 1,148 mil in 2017, up 9.00% when compared to the previous year. As a result, the top ranked company - OTP Group accounted for 214% of the sector’s mortgage loans in 2017. The top 3 companies hold a 367% share while the five largest firms some 424% in 2017.
