Based on a comparison of 26 banks in Czechia, CSOB produced the highest net profit in 2018, followed by Ceska Sporitelna and Komercni Banka.
CSOB made a net profit of CZK 15,757 mil, down 10.0% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of CZK 17,517 mil in 2017 and an all time low of CZK 1,034 mil in 2008. The average profit in the last five years amounted to CZK 15,206 mil.
The bank generated an average return on equity of 17.1% for its shareholders in the last five years with a maximum of 19.3% and a minimum of 15.9%.
Comparing CSOB with its closest peers, Ceska Sporitelna generated a net profit of CZK 15,362 mil with a ROE of 12.6% in 2018, Komercni Banka netted CZK 14,846 mil (ROE of 14.6%) and UniCredit Bank Czecho-Slovakia announced a net profit of CZK 8,957 mil giving a ROE of 12.2%.
The net profit of the Czechia’s banking sector amounted to CZK 81,440 mil in 2018, up 8.08% compared to the previous year. Heading up the rankings, CSOB accounted for 19.3% of the sector’s net profit in 2018. The top 3 companies held a 56.4% share while the five largest firms some 72.6% in 2018.
