Based on a comparison of 11 banks in Poland in 2Q2017, PKO BP was the largest mortgage lender, followed by Pekao and Santander Bank Polska.
PKO BP's mortgage loans reached PLN 108,045 mil, up 0.375% when compared to the previous quarter and up 2.19% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s mortgage loans reached an all time high of PLN 108,322 mil in 4Q2016 and an all time low of PLN 15,054 mil in 1Q2004.
At the end of 2Q2017, mortgage loans represented 52.8% of PKO BP's loan book.
When compared to the nearest peers, Pekao's mortgage loans amounted to PLN 48,259 mil at the end of 2Q2017, Santander Bank Polska operated with PLN 37,214 mil mortgage loans and mBank had a mortgage loan book of PLN 34,005 mil at the end of 2Q2017.
Czech banking sector provided mortgage loans of CZK 1,101 bil in 2Q2017, up 9.59% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - PKO BP accounted for 9.81% of the sector’s mortgage loans in 2Q2017. The top 3 companies hold a 17.6% share while the five largest firms some 23.1% in 2Q2017.
