Based on a comparison of 15 banks in Czechia in 2Q2016, CSOB was the largest mortgage lender, followed by Komercni Banka and Ceska Sporitelna.
CSOB's mortgage loans reached CZK 243,400 mil, up 2.87% when compared to the previous quarter and up 9.79% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s mortgage loans reached an all time high of CZK 243,400 mil in 2Q2016 and an all time low of CZK 39,100 mil in 4Q2005.
At the end of 2Q2016, mortgage loans represented 46.5% of CSOB's loan book.
When compared to the nearest peers, Komercni Banka's mortgage loans amounted to CZK 232,600 mil at the end of 2Q2016, Ceska Sporitelna operated with CZK 196,000 mil mortgage loans and CSOB Stavebni Sporitelna had a mortgage loan book of CZK 115,616 mil at the end of 2Q2016.
Czech banking sector provided mortgage loans of CZK 1,005 bil in 2Q2016, up 8.04% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - CSOB accounted for 24.2% of the sector’s mortgage loans in 2Q2016. The top 3 companies hold a 66.9% share while the five largest firms some 87.0% in 2Q2016.
